Toward More Powerful Recombinations

چکیده
This paper suggests a exible framework for n-dimensional crossover, consisting of cutting, classi cation, and copying of genes. We prove that under this framework, any cutting strategy generates two equivalence classes of genes, making the framework appropriate as a crossover scheme. Three notable features of this framework are: (i) it enables more e ective use of genes' geographical linkage, (ii) it enables more diverse ways of cutting than traditional multi-point crossover on linear strings or existing 2-dimensional crossover schemes, and (iii) it can be readily used within most existing genetic algorithm implementations, i.e., the underlying problem need not be inherently multidimensional. We provide guidelines for designing a crossover strategy under this framework, along with two example crossovers. Experimental results show that one can design new crossovers under this framework which outperform traditional crossover on linear strings, uniform crossover, and existing two-dimensional crossovers.

Interchromosomal recombinations between c-myc and immunoglobulin sequences can be found in preneoplastic lesions (oil granulomata) during pristane-induced plasmacytoma development in susceptible BALBkAn mice. In this study we used a more sensitiveapproach, hybridization enrichedtemplateswith nestedPCR, to detectmicrocloneswith Iga/c-myc recombinations in oil granulomata of susceptible and resis...
متن کاملThe PNarec method for detection of ancient recombinations through phylogenetic network analysis.
Recombinations are known to disrupt bifurcating tree structure of gene genealogies. Although recently occurred recombinations are easily detectable by using conventional methods, recombinations may have occurred at any time. We devised a new method for detecting ancient recombinations through phylogenetic network analysis, and detected five ancient recombinations in gibbon ABO blood group genes...
متن کاملBounds on the minimum number of recombination events in a sample history.
Recombination is an important evolutionary factor in many organisms, including humans, and understanding its effects is an important task facing geneticists. Detecting past recombination events is thus important; this article introduces statistics that give a lower bound on the number of recombination events in the history of a sample, on the basis of the patterns of variation in the sample DNA...
متن کاملFraction of informative recombinations: a heuristic approach to analyze recombination rates.
In this article we present a new heuristic approach (informative recombinations, InfRec) to analyze recombination density at the sequence level. InfRec is intuitive and easy and combines previously developed methods that (i) resolve genotypes into haplotypes, (ii) estimate the minimum number of recombinations, and (iii) evaluate the fraction of informative recombinations. We tested this approac...
متن کاملMinimum Parent-Offspring Recombination Haplotype Inference in Pedigrees
The problem of haplotype inference under the Mendelian law of inheritance on pedigree genotype data is studied. The minimum recombination principle states that genetic recombinations are rare and haplotypes with fewer recombinations are more likely to exist. Given genotype data on a pedigree, the problem of Minimum Recombination Haplotype Inference (MRHI) is to find a set of haplotype configura...
